CandyShell Grip Case for the iPhone 6 Plus: well-made, protective, and expensive

As with all new smartphones, you may be looking for new cases that not only protect your phone but enhances its aesthetic and functionality. Speck, as well as other big companies like Otterbox and LifeProof, have been at the forefront of new smartphone releases, creating innovative and high-quality products. I’ve had the iPhone 6 Plus since its release in 2014 and have only recently decided to try out Speck’s new Grip case for the new iPhones. Is it worth the price?

The CandyShell Grip case was created with a dual-layer design meaning that the exterior is hard and impact-resistant (hence the “CandyShell” moniker) while the interior is a soft, rubbered lining. The case also features a raised bezel, meaning that setting the phone face-down will keep it elevated from the surface. Around the case, you’ll find cutout ports for the Lightning port, speaker/microphone, Mute toggle, and Camera. However, the Volume and Sleep/Wake buttons are protected by the same rubberized lining that is inside the case. Where does the case get its name? Well, the “textured ridges” on the back and sides of the case provide a “perfect grip” for the iPhone 6/Plus.

There is no doubt about it: the CandyShell Grip case is a well-made and high-quality product. It feels great in the hands, which may be in part due to the textured ridges that give the case its name. For a phone known for being uncomfortable in the hands, the CandyShell Grip case provides a great combination of comfort and protection. Your expensive iPhone feels safe in the case, while all of the various ports and buttons on the phone are accessible. Even the rubberized buttons for the Volume and Sleep/Wake switches provide a responsive experience unlike some other cases.

At $39.95 on the Speck website, the CandyShell Grip case for the iPhone 6/Plus is a bit pricey. But, as with many things in life, customers want everything to be priced lower and that cannot always be the case. Sometimes, it is not only required but necessary to pay a little bit extra for a high-quality product and that is what you will find with this case.

What are your thoughts on this product? Will you be purchasing one?
