When Will These Barridcades Fall

The Blue Letter has come a long way since their last E.P. This Benchmark of Our Reality Was Never a Story at All.” aside from much cleaner recording this CD is much more well thought out and diverse. One thing I have always loved about the Blue Letter is their timing or seemingly lack their off.

Their first track “I Think My radio is Malfunctioning. Are you Still There?” has somewhat a metal influence to it which is always a bonus. Don’t be mistaken this is not another “metalcore” band. Their songs have as much diversity as my CD player. The bridge of this song is awesome going into a beautiful piano ballad only to be interuppted by an abrupt moment of chaos.

Track two “Why are we all steered by such a small rudder?” a very biblical statement starts of quick and hard. And is consistent all the way through and ends with another off timing chaotic mess I LOVE THESE GUYS.

Their last track “Let’s all be good little automation droids” Starts off quite and to the average listener (like myself) you may want to turn up the stereo to get a better idea of whats goin on. If you decide to make that choice get ready to turn it out down otherwise you will be blasted when the song comes in with full intensity and volume. This has always been my favorite track I believe it captures the essence of The Blue Letter which in my opinion is “beauty in chaos”.

Do not get these guys mistaken with your average hardcore band. They do not have the deep throaty hardcore vocals or the deep heavy low end with slammin double bass. Instead The Blue Letter is a well thought out “MathCore” (thats my made up term.) If I had to pick an artsy phrase to describe the Blue Letter I would say “beauty in chaos”.

one complaint the CD is short 3 tracks but hey it was supposed to be a split CD so what can we do?
