These Are For You

Not to be to cheesy but… with three seemingly unrelated words my hopeless romantic heart soars with Joy. Those words if you haven’t guessed are Hazel and Vine. Think the poppy sensibilities and song craftmanship of the likes of Mae with the dancy electronic beats of Hello Goodbye combined in a glorious package. Enter the CD These are For You” by Hazel and Vine.

This CD has easily become one of my favorite pop indie releases of the year (this includes last year as well.) This quintet from the unknown El Dorado Hills CA (just outside Sacramento) has come so far since their dissimilar days (a band they now shudder to speak of.) Sorry guys…

These are for you starts with the ever catchy “Fly By Kite” one of their oldest but most popular songs which have you singing “two steps to the left to avoid the sunshine” before you know the name of the song. Hazel and Vine specializes in love songs for the hopelessly romantic of which I am one. As JD (of the t.v. show srubs said in reference to Dido) I say in reference to Hazel and Vine. “If my heart could write songs they would sound like this.” Another favorite is “January Best Friend” It’s soft hearted catchy tune gives me the hope that I will one day be able to sing this to the girl I love whoever she may be. For lack of time the last song I will mention is “The Headline.” This is the danciest rock song on their which includes awesome drum machines sweet claps gang vocals and great harmonies. Your foot will be tapping no question… If it is not know that you are dead inside.

This CD is not to be missed and soon will be available for sale through the ChristCoreMusic.net online store so check it out if you do not you will regret it!

I've been doing some form of ministry since 2000. For 13 years I was involved in the youth ministry at Cordova Neighborhood Church as everything from youth intern to youth pastor. God has led me and my lovely wife Bethany to Church of the Foothills where I currently reside as the Digital Publishing Coordinator. I'm excited to see where God leads my wife and I.
