From Indian Lakes is a five-piece indie/rock band fromandhellip;wellandhellip;Indian Lakes CA (near Yosemite). From Indian Lakes is one of those bands that never lets me down. The many timesI have seen them perform live the translation from their record to the stage is perfect. The Man With Wooden Legs is an 11-track album that will get you hooked in the first 10 seconds and not let you go until the record is finished.
The Man With Wooden Legs is a record for anyone. It is very dynamic and ranges from cleverly patterned breakdowns and group shouting to soft piano and spoken word. This is one of the few bandsfor whichI heard the cd first then saw them live. And I’m really gladI did. The album is about as organic as it gets. Instead of using vocal effects clever editing or out-of-the-ordinary sampled instruments to get your attention the band members really show off their original songwriting capabilities and individual musicianship to create a good song. Joey Vannucci (singer) is essential to the success of this album. Providing memorable lyrics and melodies his singing willhelp youto remember the vocals to each song. (If you are going to listen to this cd I am very excited for you to hear how high he can sing–and how perfectly he does it live as well!) So after listening to the cd seeing their live show blew me away because the album was meant to capture their live show.
The Man With Wooden Legs was recorded in Sacramento CA by producer Dryw Owens (Consider the Thief) in 2009 and released soon after. Although the record was not released on any label the band has nothing to be ashamed of. Touring with national artists and playing festivals over the past year From Indian Lakes has already established a place for themselves in the music community. The Man With Wooden Legs has become that cd that is exchanged between band vans across the U.S. I would definitely say they are a band’s band. I wouldn’t be surprised if they were considered a “big band” in the next year.
If you are like me and usually have the attention span oftwo orthree songs to decide how you feel about a band listen to “I Have No Answers ” “We Never Dream “and “The Man With Wooden Legs.” The cd can be bought from the band’s Merch Storeand iTunes.I suggest you do.
