Postwar Tragedy

The first release by one of Sacramento’s most popular Christian Hardcore bands.

This CD was released not long after the band hit the scene and for that reason alone it is pretty impressive. It starts off by a great clip from the movie Stigmata” and goes into the song “Lingering Shadow of Betrayal.” The song starts of pretty slow and jumps into the style that you will hear throughout the rest of the CD. Their single “Postwar Tragedy” which they have a music video for comes up next. I would say this is their strongest song on the CD. At first I didn’t really like this song but it grew on me after while and is in my opinion the best song on the CD. I enjoy the chorus the mix of deep growls and high pitch wales good stuff. Some of the fills going from verse to chorus or bridge to chorus are a little weak and seem to mess with the flow of the song but it is nothing that detracts to much. The next song is title “Through Faith” it is a much slower song with a much more powerful straight forward message. It follows a very predictable pattern from soft to hard and back again. This song seems out of place just because the other songs are so much harder. I think the reasoning for this though is because the of the songs overall message they wanted it to stick out so in that way I think it works out. Their last song “Deathbed Conversion” starts off a lot heavier similar to “Postwar Tragedy” there are some very strong riffs in this song. There is a very surprising “emo” harmony that takes place within the chorus surprising in a good way.

This CD is a solid first EP to get the bands name out there. The overall tempo of the CD is a little slow I believe if they picked it up a little that would make the CD a lot better. Also there are certain riffs that seem to get repeated one to many times. I have heard tons of good stuff from pretty much everyone about their new CD and I am really excited to hear it. This CD is pretty good that CD I am sure will be way good.
