Adventures in Tokyo

There is only one phrase that can describe the band that is Calibretto 13, that is Pulls no punches.” You are either greatly offended by this band or you love their blunt honesty. I myself LOVE THEIR BLUNT HONESTY! Most people either like this band or do not like this band because of the vocals similar to the Violent Femmes. In my opinion it works well.

Their CD “Adventures in Tokyo” is no exception. This CD is packed with emotion (generally frustration) at the world and the hypocrits in it. The song entitled “Dear Beelzebubba” is a prime example it is pretty much a you suck to Satan. Quite an entertaining song packed with clever lyrics about the authority we have over satan. The chorus is awesome “I know that I am a child of the great I am and I Don’t care what you think so to HELL with you.” It takes a lot of Hootspa (say that with a Jewish accept) to say lyrics like that in my opinion but is much needed. The song “From me to You” offers a look through the eyes of a non christian who is being witnessed to. The finishing line “but until you start to practice what you preach Don’t ever expect me to change the way I am “is a constant reminder that we need to know people watch how we act shine like Jesus.

The CD is packed with stuff like this Challenging messages fun angst ridden songs with an upbeat acoustic punk sound. This is good stuff and is definatley worth a listen if you Don’t mind being challenged.

I've been doing some form of ministry since 2000. For 13 years I was involved in the youth ministry at Cordova Neighborhood Church as everything from youth intern to youth pastor. God has led me and my lovely wife Bethany to Church of the Foothills where I currently reside as the Digital Publishing Coordinator. I'm excited to see where God leads my wife and I.
