Illuminate

Ever since I started listening to worship music I began to enjoy this band very much. Their 2 other CD’s All I Can Say and Our Love is Loud made a big impact on me and my life in worship. One thing I love about this group is the depth and honesty of their lyrics about struggle, joy, trials, life, and especially love of Christ. Their new CD Illuminate is no exception.

The whole idea of the CD title is cool in itself. Within the CD cover you can find the theory of luminousity (the actual scientific law). This pretty much boils down to the closer we come to a light source the more lit up we become. The analogy of course the closer we walk towards Christ and spend time in his prensence the brighter we shine for him. Such a simple but beautiful idea, I love it. This CD starts up quick songs like Love is a Revolution” and “O Praise Him (All this for a king)” bring me into a joyful praise reminding me how amazing God’s love is for me It’s crazy isn is!

The next few songs are a little more mellow and reflective which when you give your all in worship sometimes you need to just calm and think about God so it always seems to fit right. Again their is another quick song called “How Great” almost has a pop punk vibe which is mildly entertaining but again such a praise song. The rest of the CD starts getting to be more deep worship focusing on the amazing aspects of God. One song I love is called “Deliver Me” with lines like “Deliver me out of the sadness deliver me from all of the madness deliver me courage to guide me deliver me your strength inside me” I Don’t know about you but I need Jesus to get me through every part of my day. I make so much drama for myself that sometimes I just gotta cry out “LORD DELIVER ME!!!” For that reason this song has a very special meaning to me. Another song I love is called “Stars” I have gained a new found love for this song. I have started again to become amazed at the beauty of God’s creation especially the beauty of a stary night. What I get from this song is that how could the God that created this beautiful universe care enough to shine his light down on us. But he does one of my favorite lines in this song is “I have nothing of my own to give to you but this light that shines on me SHINES ON YOU.” We Don’t have anything to offer anyone else but the love of Christ that he shines down on us so we can shine it back on them.

This is a great CD give it a try.
