Destination B-Sides

I never really liked this band. I realized their talent, but they were just to disgustingly emo for me. So perhaps I have just become disgustingly emo, but I love them now. I think Mae is one of the prettiest bands I know, right up their with Copeland. They are not just another emo band, their songs have substance, their is depth to them, inginuity in the song writing. Many of you may already have their previous release Destination Beautiful” if you Don’t have it get it It is good.

Destination B-Sides is a great in between releases between their previous and their next release. It features a few remakes “This Time is the Last Time” “Sun” “Giving it Away” “Goodbye Goodnight” a few new songs “Suspension” “Awakening” “Tisbury Lane” and some live songs “Futuro” “Sun” and “This TIme is the Last Time.

The song Suspension when I first heard it the chorus almost automatically made me think Switchfoot (which to me is good because I love them). It is a very rock oriented song but with the same wonderful vocal style. Tisbury Lane on the other hand is much softer and builds up towards the very end. Honestly the best word I could use to describe this song is “cute” I just enjoy his vocal style very much and it whole idea behind the song is very nice. And a beautiful piano acoustic guitar and drum ballad called “Awakening

I was wondering if the singer of Mae could sound as good live as he does on the CD and the answer is yes he can. Of course it sounds a little rougher but I was not let down it just made me want to see them more and more. All the remixes are fantastic they are true to Mae and just add a fun new twist and some already old favorites. This is a great CD and perhaps it will hold you over until their next release.
