If you haven’t heard of Fit For A King, then you are truly missing out. Founded in 2007, these guys have wasted little to no time making their gradual mark on the metalcore scene. Since releasing their debut album Descendants” in 2011, FFAK has already been signed to Solid State Records managed by The Artery Foundation and has taken the stage at Unsilent Night in 2012. Their unique sound lives up to their aforementioned accomplishments and provides an energetic breath into the scene.
I picked up their album “Descendants” on iTunes in late 2011 and it instantly became a CD I overplayed in my car. Fit For A King combines elements from metal and hardcore that doesn’t become monotonous after the first few tracks. Clean vocals provided by Jared Easterling (drums) isn’t placed in obligatory places (such as a typical chorus) but compliments his brutal counterpart Ryan Kirby (lead vocals) in an organic way. Ryan Kirby paints intense pictures of the struggles that Christians face daily and adds a personal touch that echoes in his words.
All in all, Fit For A King is a perfect fit next to bands such as August Burns Red, The Devil Wears Prada, and For Today. If you are a fan of heavy, and melodic metal, pick up their debut “Descendants”. That is not the only music they have out though! There are a few tracks from their new album “Creation|Destruction” out on their Facebook page. “Creation|Destruction” is out March 12 and will be their first release on Solid State Records.
