Remember in elementary school when you liked one girl/guy but you like liked” a different one? Such is the case with Bellarive. I like Leeland but I like like Bellarive. Hailing from Orlando FL Bellarive consists ofSean Curran Melissa Mage Mike Mage Josh Luker Zach Glotfelty andKenny Werner. Theirsix-song EP has caught me in a way few have. The Being Human Project examines the question “What makes us Human?” and concludes that our humanity comes in encountering Jesus.
“Our desire is that you too will pause perceive and behold the beauty in the world around you. For we all have been beaten and bruised but not forgotten; friends know there is still Hope. He is present.”– Bellarive
It is with this backdrop that the Being Human Project was created. Since I first found Come and Live Records I began listening through their artists only to be stopped in the Bs; I didn’t make it too far…. Bellarive’s EP is a worship CD plain and simple. However it may not be what you are used to in worship. These are not your typical GCDC worship songs. These are well-constructed rhythms and soaring melodies; it is easy to get lost in each song especially considering the majority of the tracks are overfive minutes in length.
I can’t explain my love for this CD. Sure I have heard better bands but I have put them aside to listen to Bellarive. I believe what draws me in is the passion I hear towards their pursuit of God. “We sing Sing it out we sing it aloud for Love has found us.” What a beautiful declaration what a beautiful reminder. My favorite track on the album has to be “Shine On.” Not only is it catchy but it is also beautiful. On occasion a song will grab me lift me up and invoke in me the feeling of flight. With its driving piano and bass and beautiful harmonies “Shine On” does just that. “We will arise for Your Glory has come Your Glory has come we will shine with our hearts towards the Son our hearts towards the Son.” A simple explanation isn enough; I strongly encourage you to listen for yourself.
Are their better bands than Bellarive? Yes. Did they redefine the genre of worship? No. Is this one of my favorite CDs for the lastthree months?YES! Just as Bellarive desires that we look around to see the beauty of God in the majesty of His creation I see God has done a good work through the hearts of the men and the woman (singular) of Bellarive and it causes me to praise Him.
Guys thank you for making this CD. I look forward to more of your heartfelt love stories in the future.
