Emery: The Weaks End RATING: (9 out of 10) RELEASE DATE: n/a LABEL: REVIEWED ON: April 30th, 2004 REVIEWED BY: Bryce CooleyREVIEW There was a lotta hype around this band I just didn't know what to expect when I heard them. But I figured, "hey they have really cool CD artwork they must be good." Good reasoning right? Luckily I was correct. Though I will say at first I was a little skeptical I was not expecting the vocal style they delivered it is not your typical high pitched emotional screaming stuff, more a soft soothing melody. But now that I listen to the CD a lot I cannot imagine it any other way, I think it fits perfectly. I get super excited when their little screaming battles start especially on track 1 entitled "Walls" their is such a sharp contrast in vocals that it just draws you in with a soothing melody build up and suddenly rips off your face with a sort of Blood Brothers type scream so just hold on for that one. Their CD a lot like that a mixture of beautiful melodies and fierce high pitched screams. Their heart for God also shines through in their lyrics which can often be lacking in the hardcore genre so that is very refreshing. Sometimes it can be a little slow and you might wish their were more screaming parts, my friend says she loves it "but they need to add some more of the hardcore stuff" I agree, but regardless this CD is great and can give quite a good time of listening. Check it out, go by The Weaks End
