‘The Harvest’ is proof that not all Netflix Trending Movies Are Good

The Harvest is yet another not-so-great horror movie to make its way on to Netflix recently. Full of a mostly unknown cast it stars Michael Shannon (Iceman) in a minor leading role. I’ve come to expect something more from Michael Shannon after movies like The Iceman and Boardwalk Empire. But, he couldn’t save this movie despite having two mostly likeable child leads to root for. Though containing a decent enough twist the wooden acting of the mother and grandparents made the majority of the scenes a lesson in perseverance. Not to mention the cliche soundtrack and incredibly abrupt and un-satisfying ending. I guess they ran out of time in the filming process… So, I’ve run out of time to review this. There are plenty of good horror films on Netflix, skip this one, despite it’s current “trending” status.

I've been doing some form of ministry since 2000. For 13 years I was involved in the youth ministry at Cordova Neighborhood Church as everything from youth intern to youth pastor. God has led me and my lovely wife Bethany to Church of the Foothills where I currently reside as the Digital Publishing Coordinator. I'm excited to see where God leads my wife and I.
