‘The Descent’ is one of my favorite horror movies

The Descent is one of my favorite horror films of all time. That is not to say it is not without fault.. what movie is?

But, this movie has stayed with me while others have faded into nothing. What starts off as a thrill-seeking getaway among six close women quickly devolves into a claustrophobic horror survival film. As the women descend into an unmapped series of caves, they are trapped by a sudden shifting in the rocks. It is not long until they realize they are not alone. With excellent “monster” design, terrifying scares and just enough gore, The Descent evokes a tension not found any many modern day horror films. Yes, you will find some standard horror movie tropes, jump scares and the like, but the film has more to offer so I don’t fault it to much. All I know is I’m not going to be venturing down into the earth anytime soon.

I've been doing some form of ministry since 2000. For 13 years I was involved in the youth ministry at Cordova Neighborhood Church as everything from youth intern to youth pastor. God has led me and my lovely wife Bethany to Church of the Foothills where I currently reside as the Digital Publishing Coordinator. I'm excited to see where God leads my wife and I.
