I’m going loco for ‘The Crazies’ and Timothy Olyphant

It’s October and you know what that means… Horror movies!  Don’t get me wrong, I watch horror year round but in October it feels somehow less weird and socially acceptable.  Sometimes I like to rewatch movies I’ve seen in the past to see if they hold up, such was the case today with The Crazies (2010).

The Crazies is about a town that goes, well… crazy when an bio-weapon is accidently released by the U.S. government after a plane crash.  I know you’ve seen it all before, people are infected, they kill each other blah blah blah.  Not so with The Crazies, well… Not only so.  What I like about this movie is that while we’re avoiding these murderous people, intelligent psycopathic zombies, we’re also attempting to escape the U.S. Military who is attempting to “cover-up” their mistake.  What ensues is an entertaining and thrilling story with plenty of good scares and tension.  Sure, there is nothing extraordinary about this film but I found myself drawn in.  Maybe it’s because I like the cut of lead Timothy Olyphant’s jib.  But, maybe it’s just a decent horror thriller.  Yes it’s predictable, but it’s good.  I might even buy this one on blu-ray…
