Amazon Prime Originals have created another hit! Introducing “Bosch”

What is it about police dramas that suck us in so much? Perhaps it’s our need to see justice done? Perhaps it’s the comfort in feeling “At least my life isn’t that bad.” Whatever the reason, cop dramas are here to stay. With surprise hits such as Transparent and Mozart in the Jungle under their belt, Amazon Originals has started to delve in to a more mainstream genre with gritty cop drama Bosch. Bosch stars Titus Welliver (Argo, The Town), the grizzled cop who is admired by his peers and hated by the higher ups.

I get it… You’ve heard this story before. You probably heard this story five times last week. But Bosch does it well. Rather than taking the “bad guy every week” format that so many shows default to, Bosch takes a shot at meta story telling and explores it over a ten episode season.

Bosch is one of the most interesting, “I’ve seen this a thousand times,” cop dramas I’ve seen in recent memory.

If I were prodded I would say this show reminds me of a mix between Low Winter Sun, The Killing and The Wire, three shows I love. I want to see more from this seasoned LAPD (yes it takes place in LA) officer. If you haven’t already, check out Bosch and let us know what you think in the comments below!

I've been doing some form of ministry since 2000. For 13 years I was involved in the youth ministry at Cordova Neighborhood Church as everything from youth intern to youth pastor. God has led me and my lovely wife Bethany to Church of the Foothills where I currently reside as the Digital Publishing Coordinator. I'm excited to see where God leads my wife and I.
