Showbread

RAW ROCK is here to overtake you. With Showbread leading the frenzy there’s no doubt it will succeed.

Never heard of Showbread? Well I was in the same boat about a month ago until some good friends of mine told me to check them out. And man I glad I did these guys are awesome. For any fans of Anguish Unsaid Refused Blindside Norma Jean these guys are definatley for you. Check out their site at Showbread @ MP3.com

Bryce: Introduce yourself to us? Where you from? What your about? What’s your style?

Matt: umm…our name’s showbread…we’re a high energy rock and roll band from savannah ga area….we’re about playing music that we love and worshipping God in the process as well as showing people that christianity isnt about rules and regulations but about unconditional love.

Bryce: WHere did the name Showbread come from?

Matt: in the early stages the band was a praise and worship band and the name came from the name of the bread that was in the temple. as the members started to get more into punk rock and rock and roll the church because of their traditionalism and legalism pretty much asked them to leave so they decided to keep the name because in the bible Jesus uses the showbread to prove a point about legalism in the church.

Bryce: What is your line-up / Instruments / Ages? marvin-18-drums josh-19-vocals ivory-19-vocals patrick-21-bass matt-21-guitar mike-22-guitar. Bryce: Any way we can listen to your material? Any of it orderable?

Matt: yes…it’s orderable off of www.showbread.net or you can go to mp3.com and it’s on there..a couple other sites too..i’m not sure….

Bryce: Any future prospects for labels?

Matt: umm…we’d like to…but wherever God leads is where we’ll go.

Bryce: Describe your sound to our readers I have heard its a mix of Blindside Anguish Unsaid Refused Squad Five-0 sounds like a freakin good mix to me is that true?

Matt: umm..yeah..that sounds about right…we get refused alot which is cool to all of us because we love them..and energy of squad and….stuff like that…also selfmindead

Bryce: I have heard your live show is amazing a quote from Anthony Phoenix is “They are gonna rock your face off.” Can you describe to the best of your ability; your live show?

Matt: haha…wow..umm…well…our music is pretty high energy so hopefully our show is high energy…we jump around and really get into the music…i dont know if it’s like the hardcore shows…it’s different….it’s rock’n’roll chaos at it’s best

Bryce: When can we experience it for ourselves?

Matt: haha…come to the shows…we’re about to go back out on tour through november..check the website to see when we’re coming close….www.showbread.net ….if you’re interested in booking us email rememberingjonny@aol.com

Bryce: Showbread is a very ministry oriented band if all of you could give a brief summary of your testimony why you do what you do.

Matt: umm…briefly i think as a band some of us all went through our “rebellious” stage.but nothing major…we were all raised in the church..i think God just smacked us in the head early on and said He had plans for us….we’re just about showing people that God is love and that’s what He’s about..not tradition and how many days you spend in church..but a personal loving relationship with Him.

Bryce: What do you say to skeptics of Christianity God Christ?

Matt: well….first off we cant change people..only God can change people…..but it’s our job to plant the seed and just love people to Christ. as far as skeptics…there’s tons and tons of proof that God exists out there…people just have to want it…and want to believe it..you cant make anyone believe anything…but…if anyone is interested or has questions we’re always more than happy to talk to them.

Bryce: Any encouragements you can give to kids who struggle with witnessing?

Matt: yeah…umm..first…some people have the spiritual gift to witness…others dont….and that’s ok…i personally dont feel i have the gift of witnessing….but…one thing we all ca do is pray…pray ferventally and ask God to change people….like i said..we cant change people..trust God in those peoples lives and pray for them….

Bryce: With all the other religions faiths “righteous figures” in the world why choose Christ? (I know thats what I hear a lot I am curious of how you would answer).

Matt: umm..that’s hard because we havent been asked much…but if someone could walk a day in a christians shoes and see what it’s like from our side..there’d be no turning back..but..since they cant..i feel again a person has to want it…God will reveal Himself to us if we ask Him….He will show us He’s real He’s alive today and He loves us…but we have to let Him. as far as proof to things such as the bibles validity and how other religions are false…there’s proof of that out there too….so many people today including christians are spoonfed information from someone and never take the time to research it themselves…i think that’s what we as a band challenge a person to do is research…

Bryce: What would you say is a huge way to reach and impact the youth of America for Christ in this generation?

Matt: umm….keep doing what we’re doing..but do it together…there’s so much negtavity going around among christians and not enough love for other people and one another…God wants to move and do amazing things…but we’re too stubborn to let Him. and pray..constantly…

Bryce: Music had a HUGE influence in my life with Christ it helped changed my life especially bands like Blindside Project 86 Living Sacrifice. Are their any bands that had a similar effect on any of you guys?

Matt: umm…as a band i dont know if so many bands changed our lives spiritually..but we all listened to your religious bands like five iron frenzy squad five-0 pod blindside..and we think it’s healthy to have positive music going into your head. before that we all listened to michael w. smith carmen steven curtis chapman etc etc etc…

Bryce: Any last words of wisdom?

Matt: pray and turn it up….also go see showbread.
