Inhale Exhale

After releasing two albums that firmly entrenched them as pillars of the metalcore genre Cleveland OH’s INHALE EXHALE realized it was time to take a cue from one of their state’s most famous edifices – the Pro Football Hall of Fame – and go for that glorious Hail Mary.

Rudy{CCM} Which member or members am I speaking with?
John LaRussa guitars.

Rudy{CCM} Who is in the band Names and instruments?
John LaRussa (guitars) Brian Pittman (bass) Bobby Poole (drums/vox) Ryland Raus (lead vox).

Rudy{CCM} I know a few of you guys were in different bands before how did Inhale Exhale get started?
(John) After I quit Narcissus I heard Brian was trying to get a hold of me. He just quit Relient K. We hooked up and started recording demos while looking for members.

Rudy{CCM} How is it being on Solid State and how did you get with the label?
(John) Solid State is great. It was a weird thing because they had to totally trust us on signing we never played a show. We were talking to a bunch of labels but we felt Solid State was a good place to be. I had a pretty cool history with Chad Johnson (AandR). He’s a good guy we sent them some stuff and I talked on the phone with him about what we were trying to do. At the same time our management (Jeff Jackson) was pushing us to whoever we felt was a good place to be. Jeff has been with us at day one. After Chad and Brandon heard the full demos they were on board they were very encouraging and felt we could do some amazing things we’re blessed.

Rudy{CCM} The new record sounds great tell me about it.
(John) Thanks its been a long time in the making. Its basically are initial thoughts of what sound we want to capture thrown out there. Its a rock/metal record with some prog in there. it’s very structured. Its weird lyric wise it’s not your typical uplifting record we think it’s uplifting but some people might not. it’s about change. And we think change is good.

Rudy{CCM} Why did you name the record The lost. The sick. The sacred”.
(John) We as humans are lost in a lot of ways we are lost in what we believe we feel lost in the world and alone at times sometimes we don’t know who we are so we try to be somebody else. We also feel sick. Our bodies start to die the moment we are born we feel tired at times of life in general we feel drained with relationships with pleasing people around us with just the weight the world puts on us. The sacred is are message of how valuable life is how we as humans are sacred to God. Life is worth living. Sometimes you just need that moment alone to change your mindset. I think the record also tackles back stabbing gossip and certain people playing judge and jury.

Rudy{CCM} When does the new record come out?
(John) Nov 21st everywhere.

Rudy{CCM} How would you describe your sound and what has influenced your music?
(John) Rock Metal Progressive and just heavy. As far as influence. Old metal and rock we don’t really let ourselves get influenced by what’s out now. I think bands do that to much and they rob themselves of what they might have inside. We never say to each other we need to do what this band is doing.

Rudy{CCM} How has God impacted your music and your lives?
(John) Wow good question. with everything I feel our gifts come from God he inspires us to do things to our best ability. In our lives we try to live with integrity with what we believe. And we live our lives according to the teachings of christ. We remember we are all humans living in the same world together though. I think thats the biggest thing God wants us to realize not to pick each other apart.

Rudy{CCM} Have any interesting stories to tell?
(John) Not really Brian likes to tell everyone he meets about the time he shot a bottle rocket off and it blew up in my face.

Rudy{CCM} How was cornerstone this year?
(John) It was cool people were really supportive. Its always hard to play a festival without a record out. But we thought it went well. We only decided play once.

Rudy{CCM} You guys are on the upcoming young bloods 2 tour will this one blow the first one away?
(John) Of course! Just kidding. I would say if you like heavy music then yes. The last one was more lighter rock music. This one is a lot of hard bands. Its funny I think we are the lightest band on the tour and we are pretty heavy. I think it’s going to be a killer tour though.

Rudy{CCM} If this band could accomplish one thing what would it be?
(John) Change lives for the better. I think we would be doing music no matter what we believe but we want that to reflect in everything we do as individuals.

Rudy{CCM} Any last words?
(John) Man I didn’t know I was going to be killed after this interview.
Bryce {CCM} hahah
