In the end, the answer to this question is found between you and God, in your personal relationship with Him.
So, as not to seem like a cop-out, I will say that music has a huge influence on us as humans. It drives our emotions, state of mind, and even sometimes our speech “for out of the overflow of the heart, the mouth speaks.” In other words, the content we let in is often the content that comes out. So, I would say that when it comes to spending your time listening to something that moves you in such powerful ways, be wise.
I myself listen to Christian and secular music. I am to a point in my relationship with God that these things do not have as much of a hold on me as they used to, but there was a time when I stayed away from secular because the music I chose hurt me in many ways. We need to be wise. God has given you wisdom and intellect, use it in all areas of your life even when determining the music you will listen to.
