ChristCore was formed in 2000 in Azusa, CA, with the goal of ministering to bands, labels, and music lovers.

ChristCore.net (formerly ChristCoreMusic.net) started as a personal blog by founder Bryce Cooley. This blog was a way for him to share "good Christian music" with his friends and anyone else who stumbled upon his page. Since then it has grown into a site that incorporates Devotionals, Prayer Chain, CD Reviews, Interviews, News and much more. The site was down from 2006 - 2010 because Bryce, a full-time youth pastor, became overwhelmed with trying to keep up both ministries. However, with all the new social media, Twitter, Facebook, RSS feeds, etc., maintaining both has become easier. For example, our news feed is automatically updated every three hours from reputable Christian feeds throughout the internet. This is a huge benefit all around and we are very excited about it

In short, we are back, better than ever, and ready to serve. Here are a few ways in which we plan to serve those who come to this site:

The Believer - First and foremost we want to encourage and challenge you in your faith in Christ. This is the most important thing we do. This is why Devotions are the first things listed on our site. There is nothing more important in the life of a believer than continually staying fresh in their faith in Christ. It is our desire to write biblically sound, challenging, and relevant devotionals that will cause you to question your own pre-suppositions and fall deeper in love with Christ. Through our CD Reviews, Interviews and Band Charts we also hope to open you up to a new world of music that you may have never heard. We want to be a source that informs your passion for music and ministers to your spiritual needs as well.

The Band - We are here to get your music and your hearts heard! It can be very difficult to get your music reviewed, to get interviewed, and to get exposure aside from Myspace & Facebook. We want to give you extra exposure to get your name out to people who would not otherwise hear you. We are willing to review anyone with a legitimate recording, indie or large labelÑit doesn't matter. We want to be a service to you and encourage you in the ministry God has called you to.

Everyone Else - We want you to see the heart of Christ in all that we do. We believe that it is only through the acceptance of His death and resurrection that we can be saved (Romans 10:9-10). We want to be around to give you someone to talk to and to ask questions concerning the faith. We want you to read our articles, engage us in conversation whether you are atheist, agnostic, Mormon, Muslim-we want to hear from you. As a staff we are not perfect, merely loved by Christ; we want to share with you what He has done for us. At the very least on this site you can ask us a question or find out that Christian music isn't as bad as you always assumed it was.

How does CC determine if an artist is Christian?
That answer is twofold This has been an issue since I first got into the scene in 1998, what defines a Christian band?  Is it a fully ministry focused band, is it Christians in a band, is it a band with a Christian lead singer / lyricist?  Well the answer to your question is yes.  We look for all those things when determining whether or not an artist is listed, reviewed or interviewed on our site.  Our general routine in finding out about a band is checking their social media pages (facebook, myspace, reverbnation), website, blogs etc to see if (1) there is any f...

Who does the comparisons on your charts?
Well, years ago that started off as me, Bryce, but over the years that has changed.  Now a majority of bands on the site are submitted by themselves or fans of them.  Not all bands sound exactly like artists they are compared to but in general would appeal to the fans of the bands listed.  If you feel you have a better comparison available for some of the bands listed feel free to e-mail us through our contact page. ...

What exactly does "secular" mean?
Contrary to what Christians want to think secular does not mean evil. It simply means "Not religious; not connected with a church." If someone wants to take the position that anything not of God is of satan, though that position can be defended, this is not what we are intending to convey. ...

How does this Search for band feature work?
You can use the band search feature in three ways. (1) You can type in a secular artist i.e (slipknot, nsync, britney spears, creed, Matchbox 20) and click go and all their christian alternatives will come up. (2) You can also type in a christian artist i.e(living sacrifice, plus one, zoe girl, jars of clay) and other christian artists that have a similar appeal will come up. (3) You can also sort by Artist or Genre "Ascending" or "Descending" simply click the up or down arrows at the top of our band lists. ...

How can I approach my child about their music?
It is different for all kids, some kids you may need to be very straight forward with them about the problem. Others that may only drive them away and make them "rebel" against you. You have to show kids that you understand them and get a common ground with them before they will even think to listen to you. Do not let them feel attacked when you talk to them, they will be on their guard from the get go. In casual conversation bring up things that they listen to, news you have heard, Christian bands they may enjoy. Do not single them out. If all you do is condemn them for thing...

I believe in God, thats good right?
I will admit that is a start. But where is the faith? I could look at a chair and say "I believe that chair will hold me up if I sit in it", but if I never put action along with that faith and try sitting down, how am I showing the faith. Same goes with God. I could say I believe in God all I wan't but if I never put action to follow him, what is that worth? "Faith without works is like a screendoor on a submarine." - Rich Mullins You believe that there is one God. Good! Even the demons believe that-- and they shudder. James 2:19 In other words, simply believ...

Should I only listen to christian music?
In the end the answer to this question is found between you and God in your personal relationship with Him. So as not to seem like a cop-out I will say that music has a huge influence on us as humans.  It drives our emotions, state of mind and even sometimes our speech "For out of the overflow of the heart the mouth speaks."  In other words  the content we let in is often the content that comes out.  So I would say when it comes to spending your time listening to something that moves you in such powerful ways be wise. i myself listen to Christian and Se...

Is smoking cigarettes and drinking wrong?
Romans 13:1-2 Everyone must submit himself to the governing authorities, for there is no authority except that which.  God has established. The authorities that exist have been established by God.  Consequently, he who rebels against the authority is rebelling against what God has instituted, and those who do so will bring judgment on themselves. So in that sense if you are under 18 or 21, then yes it is wrong because it is illegal.  Now provided you are "of age" then below are my thoughts. Cigarettes Here is my issue with cigarettes.  Addiction.&nb...

Is getting a tattoo wrong?
That is fully between you and God. Just do not do it for selfish reasons. Leviticus 19:28 "Do not cut your bodies for the dead or put tattoo marks on yourselves. I am the LORD." Is often quoted in circumstances against tattoos.  I could throw out there that this is in the Old Covenant, well I guess I just did, but that is not the thrust of my reasoning.  Within the context, even of this sentence but certainly the surrounding verses you see that these tattoos had a purpose.  This can be seen in the phrase "for the dead" in some way these tattoos wer...
