May 3rd | He's In The Other Room
Let's be honest, God is in the other room, not even sitting with us while our lives are going under. We hear all the time that He is always by our side, what a nice little fairy tale to tell all of us before we go to sleep. God has left the room, yep, Jesus is next door, not here.
Tell me of one person that you have seen today that never thinks that and I will give them the award for Person of Faith of Forever.
God does not always seem like He is always here, ooh a devotion that says such a thing? How could this be a devo then, aren't you not supposed to say that God isn'[ READ MORE | Posted on: May 3rd, 2010 PST | By: John Chaffee]
| | May 1st | To Those Who are Well.
And Jesus answered them, "Those who are well have no need of a physician, but those who are sick. I have not come to call the righteous but sinners to repentance." (Luke 6:1)
A lot of the time, we as Christians decide that we want to hide away in our churches or our youth groups or our retreats, or even within the confines of our hearts and minds. We realize and accept the amazing grace that God has bestowed upon us, his children. We get saved and we go into hiding. What once was so great and powerful in our lives is now but only a small part of it.

| | Apr 30th | Our Defense Against Sin
"Our great defense against sin lies in being abhorred by it." - CS Lewis
Here are some amazing passages. "Let those who love the Lord hate evil, for he guards the lives of his faithful ones and delivers them from the hand of the wicked." Psalm 97:10
"To fear the Lord is to hate evil; I hate pride and arrogance, evil behavior and perverse speech." Proverbs 8:13
"Seek good, not evil, that you may live. Then the Lord God Almighty will be with you, just as you say he is. Hate evil, love good; maintain justice in the courts." Amos 5:14-15

| | Apr 26th | When Heaven Rejoices
"Suppose one of you has a hundred sheep and loses one of them. Does he not leave the ninety-nine in the open country and go after the lost sheep until he finds it? And when he finds it, he joyfully puts it on his shoulders and goes home. Then he calls his friends and neighbors together and says, 'Rejoice with me; I have found my lost sheep.' I tell you that in the same way there will be more rejoicing in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine righteous person who do not need to repent."
For a sinner to turn back to God is without a doubt one of the mo[ READ MORE | Posted on: April 26th, 2010 PST | By: John Chaffee]
| | Apr 23rd | Stand Up for His Cause
"I am ridiculed all day long; everyone mocks me... But if I say, "I will not mention Him or speak any more in His name," His word is in my heart like a fire, a fire shut up in my bones. I am weary of holding it in; indeed, I cannot." Jeremiah 19:7,9
This world does not want us to stand up for Christ, the enemy wants us silent, wants to shut us up. This world is falling apart because there are not many Christians who speak up about how the purpose of all of our lives is to fear God and to keep His commandments (Ecclesiastes 12).
We all have heroes. People that we [ READ MORE | Posted on: April 23rd, 2010 PST | By: John Chaffee]
| | Apr 19th | God the Provider!
25"So I tell you, don't worry about everyday life--whether you have enough food, drink, and clothes. Doesn't life consist of more than food and clothing? 26Look at the birds. They don't need to plant or harvest or put food in barns because your heavenly Father feeds them. And you are far more valuable to him than they are. 27Can all your worries add a single moment to your life? Of course not.
28"And why worry about your clothes? Look at the lilies and how they grow. They don't work or make their clothing, 29yet Solomon in all his glory was not dressed as beaut[ READ MORE | Posted on: April 19th, 2010 PST | By: Adriana Cisneros]
| | Apr 15th | Identified By Our Love
34So now I am giving you a new commandment: Love each other. Just as I have loved you, you should love each other. 35Your love for one another will prove to the world that you are my disciples."
-John 13.34-35 (NLT)
One thing that I know plagues our churches is the lack of love for one another. Jealousy, pride, anger, murmuring, gossip, and rebellion are all a result of the lack of love in the church for our brothers and sisters. Christ commanded us to love one another just as He loved us (and we all know that is a lot of love!), and with that commandment Christ declared that the[ READ MORE | Posted on: April 15th, 2010 PST | By: Adriana Cisneros]
| | Apr 13th | The Call of Discipleship
"The call to discipleship is the call to change." - Dietrich Boenhoffer
Make no mistake about it. Don't even dare to deceive yourself into thinking that the call to discipleship is easy, or that it requires nothing of you. The mark of a Christian is his or her actions, words mean something, but not as much as our actions.
Many of us have heard the Gospel. Many of us have heard the same ol' story about Jesus and His love. Some of us have become calloused to it, like myself, and need a reminder that we cannot keep doing the things we were doing before we had become C[ READ MORE | Posted on: April 13th, 2010 PST | By: John Chaffee]
| | Apr 11th | There is Hope.
In the last one of these that I put up on here, I said that righteousness is not something that we have to strive towards, it is something that we are given freely for believing in our Savior, Jesus Christ. It cannot be attained through our own actions. We cannot even come close to it by our own good works. In all seriousness, if we were to be completely open and honest, the majority of us very rarely do the things that we would even begin to consider righteous. In fact, a lot of the time, we do the very opposite.
It is just so much easier and often times even more fun to just fall away[ READ MORE | Posted on: April 11th, 2010 PST | By: Brandon Whitt]
| | Apr 9th | For The Weak?
We often hear that religion is just a crutch for the weak. And I have often heard that Christianity is only for the weak minded. Nothing could be farther from the truth. All I want to say is that the answer to the question of is Christianity for the weak is two folded, the answer is yes and no.
Mark 8:34-38 (one of my favorite passages) and parallels (Matthew 16 and Luke 9), are all about the cost of discipleship. That to follow after Christ we must deny ourselves of any comforts or addictions that inhibit us from loving God and one another more with a biblical understanding of love.
