With Comic Con inching closer, nerds everywhere are waiting for all kinds of reveals and announcements. Marvel fanboys (and girls) should be thrilled by the amount of news that the studio has unleashed this week. We have our first images from the set of ‘Avengers: Age of Ultron’ and some news regarding the future of the comic book universe. Here’s a rundown of what has been announced so far.
Entertainment Weekly is featuring a first look at the big, bad boss of our next Avengers movie: the menacing Ultron. It is revealed that Ultron will be created by Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.) as a way to retire the Iron Man suit. As this super-intelligent, self-aware machine soon discovers, the only way to protect the world is to destroy humans. We also have some images from the set of the film, including Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch, Captain America, Iron Man, the Hulk, Hawkeye, and more!
Another huge announcement was that Thor would be losing his title to another hero. It just so happens that the other hero is a woman! The fanbase was in an uproar after this unveiling, but should they be? While Thor has remained an iconic character for many years it is understandable that Marvel would want to spice up a hero that is becoming dull for comic book readers. Any publicity is good publicity, right?
It was also revealed earlier this week that Sam Wilson’s Falcon would be taking over the mantle of Captain America. Steve Rogers isn’t dead, but he does appear to be trading in his signature shield for a ‘cane.’ The interesting takeaway from this news bit is that Sam Wilson will keep his wings. A flying Captain America.. what’s not to like?
Obviously there’s a lot more news to come, but you can read some more news from Marvel over at IGN. What do you think of this news from Marvel? Leave your comments down below!
