DC TV Tidbits: Legends of Tomorrow & Supergirl

I’ll put my cards on the table here… I’m not super excited about either of these shows.  To sum up my feelings I would say… meh. That being said, DC seems to be doing well in the television space overall and several things were announced, so here are some news tidbits for all you nerds.

Supergirl

Pretty high on my list of shows I’m not very excited about is one of DC’s newest TV properties, Supergirl.  But, as I’ve done with their other properties, I will give it a chance.  Hopefully, we won’t have another iZombie on our hands.  Today’s tidbit comes in the way of casting news. Actress Jenna Dewan-Tatum (Witches of East End) has been cast as Lucy Lane older sister of Metropolis Superman love interest Louis Lane. She will apparently be introduced in the third episode of the series, though her role is thus far unknown. Will she, as she does in the new 52 comics, eventually gain Kryptonian-esque powers after putting on a mysterious suit? Or, will she play love interest to Jimmy Olsen of whom she is well acquainted? Only time will tell. Be sure to checkout Supergirl‘s premiere on October 26th and let us know what you think about it.

Legends of Tomorrow

Last, and possibly least, we have some Legends of Tomorrow news. Well, maybe more like speculation than news. Legends of Tomorrow is adding Carter Vance (Hawkman), played by Falk Hentschel, into the fold in addition to the newly established Hawkgirl. Fans of the winged lovers, rejoice! In addition to the casting of Hawkman comes the announcement that Vandal Savage will be the Legends of Tomorrow antagonist. If you’re unaware, Savage has been one of DC’s biggest villains for 70 years. An immortal bent on world domination, Savage will be played by Danish actor Casper Crump. Personally, I’ve never heard of him but he’s slated for a Tarzan movie in 2016 and upon his photo, I understand their casting.  I’m highly skeptical of this show, as it primarily seems to be the DC Universes B-Team, but with a villain like this it’s worth a watch.

What do you think about this news? Are you interested in watching Legends of Tomorrow or do you wish DC would stick with their current properties? Let us know in the comments below.
