First official Dawn of Justice Superman Photo Released

The first official picture of Henry Cavill’s Superman has been released today, and it is quite the stylized shot. “It was a dark and stormy night in…” Wait. Where is he? The cityscape in the background seems too dark and smoky for Metropolis. Perhaps our Man of Steel has alighted in Gotham City? Regardless of where he is, he is poised, composed, and ready for action in that…muted, gritty suit they gave him in his last film. Blah.

Call me old-fashioned, but I like Superman’s image to inspire hope and light in the mind. We already have a dark hero, his name is Batman and he will be in this “Dawn of Justice” movie. When they got rid of the outer red spanks back in 2011, I grumbled (a lot) but came to regard it as an acceptable new look. Never got used to our Man of Tomorrow in his darker, dingy uniform though. It just doesn’t evoke a visage of the hero whose power literally comes from the yellow sun. The bright, shining star in our sky. Oh well, he can’t be for everyone who he is for me.

Oh! But dat cape doh! It’s got a life and breath of it’s own. Let’s hope it floats as effortlessly as last time and maybe, just for fun, we’ll see our antagonist use it against him once more. 😉

I am a wife (sixteen years), mother (fourteen & eleven years), and believer (eighteen years). I love reading, movies, Superman, baking, and writing. I have over 1500 comic books and forty-eight superhero t-shirts. It's a small obsession. I have worked as a teacher's aide for six years at a small private school, and am currently working only as a substitute to spend more time with family and to do more writing. I am truly blessed.
