With My God I Can . .

There is one verse in the bible that I can honestly say I can not comprehend, but I strive everyday to do so. I work on my faith striving to be settled in this truth. That verse is Phillippians 4:13 it says "I can do EVERYTHING through him who gives me strength." Who is that? Well my friend that would Jesus with the help of his Holy Spirit.

One thing I have learned recently is to take God out of my box. Meaning there is so much stuff in this world I do not understand. I often ask myself "How is that possible?", a lot of stuff is just way beyond me. For example. Miraculous healings. The way the world thinks is when it comes to terminal cancer that is it. Chemotherapy may help for awhile but it is only delaying the inevitable.

Yet one of my great friend Uncle is an exception. He was diagnosed with terminal cancer and given 6 months to live. She asked me to pray for him because she knows I love doing that, so I of course the least I could do was pray. I attempted to the best of my ability to pray with the faith that God could do exceedingly more than I asked for. The book of James says that the "prayer of a righteous man is powerful and effective." It also speaks about when you pray, to have faith that God can and will carry it out. So to the best of my unbelieving ability I did so. To make a long story short a month later they took an MRI and the cancer had shrunk significantly (with no explanation from the doctors.) A few days later IT WAS GONE, COMPLETELY GONE and the doctors were baffled. I also do want to mention this man did not know the Lord, but has sense picked up his bible, so you can be praying for that.

The point of my story is with the power of the Holy Spirit mixed with God's will we can be used for amazing things. I know it wasn't my prayer specifically that healed him the prayers of his family as well were heard and ultimately God's will was done. One man I have started looking back at to understand this concept that "With My God I Can …" Fill in the blank with whatever is David.

In 2 samuel 18:29 David boasts to God "With your help I can advance against a troop [ 18:29 Or [ can run through a barricade ] ] ; with my God I can scale a wall." This is a guy who knows that he can do all things through the Lord. Again his faith on such matters is tested when he fights goliath a guy about 2 1/2 times his size. But read this brief segment describing what happened.

2 samuel 17 "As the Philistine moved closer to attack him, David ran quickly toward the battle line to meet him. Reaching into his bag and taking out a stone, he slung it and struck the Philistine on the forehead. The stone sank into his forehead, and he fell facedown on the ground. So David triumphed over the Philistine with a sling and a stone; without a sword in his hand he struck down the Philistine and killed him. David ran and stood over him. He took hold of the Philistine's sword and drew it from the scabbard. After he killed him, he cut off his head with the sword."

Kinda gruesome I will admit, but amazing. This guy new that because God was on his side he could take down this man that perhaps Andre the Giant would curl up in fear at facing. Let me remind you people that the same God who watched over David and Moses and Paul is the God we serve today. He has never change he will always be awesome, always be mighty and always be able to do exceedingly more than we can imagine.

Yet another example of Faith can be found in Daniel 3 of the old testament. Here, Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego took on the king of there country even when faced with being thrown into a flaming furnace. Instead of cowering down and bowing down to the graven image they said ""O Nebuchadnezzar, we do not need to defend ourselves before you in this matter. If we are thrown into the blazing furnace, the God we serve is able to save us from it, and he will rescue us from your hand, O king. But even if he does not, we want you to know, O king, that we will not serve your gods or worship the image of gold you have set up." I have to be honest when I read that I am like ARE YOU SERIOUS, fools, YOU GONNA DIE!!! But alas, what happens God protects them walks with them in the fire, keeps them safe and God is glorified at the end of the day.

Let me encourage you guys, that is the God we serve. He is amazing and I can honestly say that With my God I CAN DO ANYTHING
