Stand Up for His Cause

"I am ridiculed all day long; everyone mocks me… But if I say, "I will not mention Him or speak any more in His name," His word is in my heart like a fire, a fire shut up in my bones. I am weary of holding it in; indeed, I cannot." Jeremiah 19:7,9

This world does not want us to stand up for Christ, the enemy wants us silent, wants to shut us up. This world is falling apart because there are not many Christians who speak up about how the purpose of all of our lives is to fear God and to keep His commandments (Ecclesiastes 12).

We all have heroes. People that we look up to, but answer this question, why is your hero someone worthy of being looked up to? Perhaps they have a special talent that you wish that you had, but hopefully more than just that.

The people that changed the course of human history, were those who had a backbone, those who stood up for what they believed in, even when it hurt to do so. As Christians, our hero is Christ, the man who had such a determination that He was obedient even to the point of death on a Cross. Jesus had determination, determination because He knew exactly what this life is about, He was so close to the heart of God that nothing could deter Him from His mission. He is worthy of being called a hero.

Do not be silent, keep on speaking, the Lord is your shepherd. He will not lead you astray, simply repent that you might be His spokesman or spokeswoman in a world of darkness. And recognize that to stand tall and to stand strong means more than merely appearing intimidating to others, it means to stand against the crowds and sprint with determination towards God while so many others are walking away. May God grant you the strength and the right words to knock some people out of their routine, and lead people towards the light of the glory of the knowledge of Jesus Christ.

The time is now, to stop shrinking back, and to instead have a backbone for what is good and right and true. Remember that Revelation 3 speaks of how Christ will be disgusted with us if we are lukewarm and good for nothing.

When times look tough, and we face ridicule for our faith in the fact that a God took it upon Himself to redeem a fractured creation, remember Jeremiah 19:11-13.

"But the Lord is with me like a mighty warrior; so my persecutors will stumble and not prevail. They will fail and be thoroughly disgraced; their dishonor will never be forgotten. O Lord Almighty, you who examine the righteous and probe the heart and mind, let me see you vengeance upon them, for o you I have commmitted my cause. Sing to the Lord! Give praise to the Lord! He rescues the life of the needy from the hands of the wicked."

"Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whaever is admirable – if anything is excellent or praiseworthy – think about such things. Whatever you have learned or received or heard from me, or seen in me – put it into practice. And the God of peace will be with you." Philippians 4:8-9

And so may the God of grace send His Spirit over you to protect you and strengthen you to stand up for His cause, for His mission, for His Gospel, and for His love. May you remember the determination of Jesus in His passion, and stay true to your calling even unto the point of death, that when you reach heavens gates, He may look into your eyes and say honestly, "Well done, my good and faithful servant."
