12 Declarations for 2015

2015. Another year has ended, and a new one has just begun. As I sat in my room a few hours before the New Year, God put some stuff on my heart. Stuff that He wanted me to work on in the new year. Stuff that we all could work on in the new year. I hope that you will join me on this journey, one step at a time.

1) Use every word to speak life.

Words can build up, and words can tear down. Words can be a weapon. Use your words to speak life into other people – to give hope, to encourage, to minister.

2) Develop more meaningful relationships.

Every person in your path, take that opportunity to speak life into them. From your family members to your cashier to your coworkers, be purposeful. Also, more real time and less virtual time. Take the time to actually sit down with another person and learn about them.

3) More of Him and less of me.

This one is easy: more Jesus, less me.

4) Trust more and fear less.

If He’s on our side, why should we fear? Stop trying to handle everything and let Him handle it.

5) Love bigger.

Love passionately and deeply, so much in fact that people wonder why.

6) Look ahead, not behind.

Remember that God is doing a NEW thing. Your past does not rule you. Stop dwelling on the past and keep your eyes forward, fixed on the race that is in front of you.

7) Stop putting God in a box and limiting what He can do.

We serve a big God. Don’t put restrictions on Him by our own human limitations. I think so often we forget that God can do anything. Trust in that, and live life in that knowledge.

8) Remember to appreciate and cherish the little things in life.

A sunset. A baby’s laugh. True love. Value those little things that make up life.

9) Stand for your convictions and don’t compromise them.

Oh yes, you may be standing alone at times. But don’t let people sway the convictions that God has put in your heart. Stand strong.

10) Be that kind of person who makes an impact.

Leave a legacy on people’s lives. Be that kind of person that people remember (in a good way!).

11) Go out of your way to bless another.

Maybe it’s something as simple as buying the person behind you coffee or putting a quarter in the expired parking meter next to yours. Whatever it is, act in love.

12) Realize that your dreams and passions are God given, and they are in your heart for a purpose.

God didn’t put them there for nothing. He has a plan for you, and He wants to use you. Let Him.

I pray that you grow even more in Christ in 2015. Have you tried any of these in the new year? Send me a message and let me know how it’s going!
